The American Pet Cross is committed to developing the practice of animal law and the prosecution of animal abusers. Our Animal Legal Advocate program will partner with the top law schools in the country to provide both a curriculum and a specialty in the field of animal law. Our animal legal advocates will commit a portion of their practice pro bono to support local attorneys in their prosecution of suspected animal abusers. Whenever possible, our intent is to work closely with existing organizations that have already made great progress in these areas. In addition to supporting these existing organizations, we will focus on three specific areas:

  1. Registered Pet Offenders™- These are animal abusers who have been charged and convicted of animal abuse in any form. Our intention is to make the general public aware of these individuals via the web, and to aggressively monitor their future activities when it comes to animals.
  2. The Animal Law Pack- The “Pack” is a grassroots initiative program created to promote and develop the current statutes and regulations concerning animal welfare, and enforce the punishment of those charged with animal abuse.
  3. The WatchDog Program™- “WatchDogs” will be ordinary citizens powered with cell phones, video recorders, or webcams who document visually situations of obvious animal neglect and abuse. The WatchDog will then forward that information to the proper authorities for further investigation.

American Pet Cross is currently looking for a variety of people and organizations that are able to donate time and skills to help provide advocacy services across the nation. We need:

  • Volunteers to start state and local American Pet Cross chapters
  • Veterinarian Services
