American Pet Cross Care Center
The goal of The American Pet Cross Care Center
is to enable veterinarians and their clients to assist in one
of the greatest challenges for pets and their owners: how to pay
for care for a deserving animal when there simply are no personal
resources to do so. One of the sources for great frustration and
disappointment for the many thousands of veterinarians in the
country is to be forced to refuse treatment for a deserving animal
and its owner because of the inability to pay for those services.
American Pet Cross believes there is a
solution for some of these situations.
The American Pet Cross Care Center will be a stand
alone veterinary services center devoted to the delivery of care
services to deserving owners and their pets. It will be staffed
by both salaried and volunteer personnel based on the community
demands. The funding for the center and its services will be donations
from the referring veterinarians' client bases. Once a referral
has been made to the APC Care Center, the monies for that care
will be drawn from an established donor account in the local community
foundation. Only owners and their animals who have been referred
to the APC Care Center will be considered for treatment. This
referral process insures that only deserving owners and pets will
be able to use the funds available. Each referring veterinarian
will be responsible for establishing criteria within their practice
that qualifies owners and pets for such services on an initial
and ongoing care basis.
American Pet Cross believes that veterinarians want
to help and that the patients and clients of that veterinarian
want to help in providing a remedy for this painful and difficult
situation.
