Senior Pets Overview

APC Care Dog Program

Other Resources

Pets are very special companions for many seniors around the country. As seniors age and are no longer able to care for themselves, many of these pets are either abandoned or euthanized because there is no one to take care of them.

American Pet Cross is looking for volunteers around the country to help seniors with the decisions and actions necessary to ensure these beloved animals are well provided for. Here’s how you can help:

  1. Make a donation to American Pet Cross to help fund a SeniorPet Adoption Program™ in your area.
  2. Volunteer to be a foster parent for a SeniorPet where you live.
  3. Assist the Humane Society in your local area by creating an alliance for a SeniorPet Adoption Program.
  4. Work with local city and county government to help initiate programs to identify, support, or care for SeniorPets whose owners can no longer care for them.
  5. Work with your veterinarian and other veterinarians where you live to create a SeniorPet Adoption Program to help with this problem.
  6. Organize an AmericanPetCross SeniorPet Adoption Program in your area.

A lifetime of companionship for owners and pets can be drastically changed by the illness or incapacity of the owner. Make sure this doesn’t happen to the seniors or their pets in your area.

American Pet Cross is in the process of creating local and state support groups to help area seniors and their pets. We need workers, wealth, and wisdom for this vital support system.
